Indie Wed 2014

The typical Chicago winter weather didn’t stop the creativity or fun at this winter’s Indie Wed wedding show. Florists, artisans, bakers, dressmakers, DJs, photographers, rentals, and caterers—it was a winter wonderland of wedding goodness!

This year we decided to feature two of our popular stations: the popcorn bar, and the S’mores station. Guests received a bag of popcorn with flavorful mix-ins like truffle oil, coffee chili, M&Ms, sunflower seeds, currants, cinnamon sugar, and Thai coconut curry powder. At the S’more bar, guests roasted home-made marshmallows on bamboo skewers and topped them off with chocolate and graham crackers—take that Mother Nature!

Our display included two hors d’oeuvre: a lemon-poached shrimp skewer, and a pork belly skewer with a sweet Thai glaze.  For the Vegans and Vegetarians we offered a gluten-free polenta cake made with saffron and goat cheese, then sprinkled with micro greens and tortilla strips dusted with paprika. Chef Shawn was hard at work at our prep station making sure that there was enough to go around.

We only wished that we had time enough to see the exhibition in its entirety!
